Baggage Claim

I love when I am at the airport, waiting for my bags to come around the conveyor belt. I always look at the other bags that circle around and wonder which ones are filled with old clothes, new clothes, maybe some trinkets or maybe just filled with vibrators, gag balls and whips. When it comes to relationships, do we look at partners and wonder about the things we don't see. What baggage do they carry? What does it look like? Where does it come from?

With this is in mind, I wonder when we walk the streets of our city do we look at our potential mates the same way. Do we look at others wondering what they hold inside? What baggage will they bring into a relationship? Don't we all wish we had like x-ray relationship goggles so we could see into a person before dating them? See what the person wants, their motives, their intentions and of course their baggage.

As I mature, I am becoming more aware of my baggage. Mr. Vegas and I are getting closer and as you all know we speak often. So one day this week, I didn't speak to him after approximately 5pm. I called around 7:30 and again around 1am; no answer. By the time I was ready to go to bed (4am) I already cursed him out and wrote him off to be a cheater. Yes, a cheater and we didn't even make our relationship "official". In my defense: I am an only child, I do not play well with others nor do I like to share my toys. So ummm, he is mine. *in my head anyway* But because of my recent dead-end relationship with a cheater, I just assumed when you don't answer and/or return my calls you are knee-deep in another woman. I know its wrong but it's what I am use to. So because I refuse to go to bed angry, I cursed him out in my head. Let it go and went to bed. The following day he texted and called before I woke up and had a valid excuse. I felt good that I didn't tell him off. This was a sign to me that I am starting to feel him more than I let on. But with all of this (feelings, I guess) comes the urge to check his phone to make sure he isn't dealing with other women and if he is to what extent. I don't do it because (1) I don't want to find out something that may harm this relationship and (2) because that is his property and it isn't my place to check it. Crazy enough, I have several friends who would think it is ok to check his phone. Is this something "scorned women" do in an attempt to protect themselves or is it a badge of insecurity?

Although we all think each relationship starts with a clean slate, the truth is as you run away from one relationship and walk into another, you bring your experiences and baggage to the new relationship. I do think from each relationship, you should bring what you have learned, like what you don't like, what you won't settle for and of course the wisdom of knowing signs of foul play; because this all adds to the better person you would be in a relationship. The new lover shouldn't have to pay for the mistakes of the old lover. So I am actively walking myself through this process because I don't want my baggage to interfere with something that I feel like can be a great and serious thing. *wink*

I am back at that the Baggage Claim watching my suitcases I packed after ended relationships, go around and around. I refuse to claim them. They are filled with hurt, pain, sadness, disappointment, emotional scars, physical scars and of course the memories of it all. I will be here for a while because separating with them is hard and although they are toxic they have defined a part of me. I will not pick them up because on the other side of the doors is a bright and happy future.
Feeling like the Black Carrie Bradshaw
*smooches*

  1. Yes, insecure women check phones, and sometimes the insecurity is a result of being scorned... (aka, it's their fault we gotta do all that nonsense).

Baggage doesn't have to be bad, and I don't think it should be forgotten. I think baggage can make or break you depending on how you use it...

You can learn from the past issues and allow your knowledge to guide you, protect you, etc...

    or

you can neglect to learn from the past issues and allow your bitterness to bind you.

  2. First of all what's done in the dark will come to the light, own its own... EVERYTHING (Its just a matter of time)

I agree with Anonymous. Insecurity is the result of being hurt (usually repeteadly). But like Anonymous said it doesnt have to be bad. I believe everything happens for a reason but you should learn and grow from each situation.

I know how hard it is not to hold a guy accountable for something that someone else did. Its not fair but in the back of my head, Im thinking...what makes him different. The only thing to do is to stay positive, be optimistic and remember you wouldnt want him to hold you accountable for what some other girl did to him...

  3. All u have to do is wait long enuf, and eventually the new boo will act just like the old boo, then our insecurities will resurface, and then we'll feel dumb for ever thinking the new boo would be different. Then we'll go to the next, and our self-defense mechanism will kick in....vicious cycle.

YES this is a sign of past relationships insecurities and being nosie dont step over the line in any relationship it will cause nothing but distrust and hurt no matter what the results whether they r cheating or not let them make u happy and when they start to slip from doing it check it right away dont wait 2 days or hours men will take advantage give them a inch they will take 1,000,000 miles they r just big kids the longer a women put up with it the harder it will be to get it back to what it was or suppose to be

Interesting Weekend

I apologize for neglecting you but I had to do some field work so we can have something to talk about… For the last couple of weeks Mr. Vegas has been monopolizing my time and body, until this weekend… Yes, Yes, Yes… there is a new character around. His name is LI and his sole on this earth is to "sweetmouth" me, especially from the back and I absolutely love it (we will come back to that)!!!! Where shall I start... ummm, Saturday was simply amazing. Vegas made up for his sleeping spell in tenfold *winking*. We were at his house, in his bedroom, Trey playing in the background… he started rubbing my face, looking into my eyes then he started kissing my neck and I melted like ice cream in his hands to say the least. He used his fingers like he was playing a piano, it felt so good. As we engaged in a passionate session, my dear Vegas took it one step further… he introduced a little magic wand that evoked spasms and warm feelings from all over. Mr. Vegas and the Pocket Rocke...

Mr.Vegas...

Happy Sunday Readers…. So I am stepping this blog up a notch, and I am considering introducing you guys to MY “current” cast of characters… but I am not too sure of how ready y’all are for that. Ok, ok, ok (stop twisting my arm) you can meet them one at a time... **Names will have to be changed to protect the innocent** Tonight, you can meet the one that I have been spending a lot of time with his name is Vegas. Vegas is a caramel love, 6’4, approximately 300 lbs, with a robust laugh, personality and a beautiful G-spot penis. He is five years older than me. He is a true gentleman, he cooks with his own place, own car and is willing to bring me a Dr. Pepper late at night. Vegas calls several times throughout the day and we can easily spend 2 hours on the phone (so high school, yet soooo enjoyable). He is a fun, cocky, outgoing, independent man. He makes me smile and makes me feel good, inside and out. He is the kind of man that compliments my hair, clothes and bodies. He opens the pa...
