Long Distance Relationship Survival Kit....

It is a cold rainy evening, one that is perfect for cuddling on the couch, in the arms of the one you love and watching (what you hope will be) a good movie. A smile spreads across your face, at the thought of the warmth of his body against you and how sensually intoxicating his smell is. Suddenly, a soft sigh escapes your lips and the smile that was once spread across your face has transformed itself into a deep frown. Yes, it would have been the perfect evening for cuddling if only he didn’t live two hundred seventeen miles away. photo credit: unknown There are various reasons why some women end up in a long distance relationship. Two main reasons being, circumstances, when one half of the couple has to move to another state in order to pursue their education or career. Cliques...aren't just for high school...

When you’re in high school, you look forward to the day when you don’t have to deal with the cliques – the jocks, the Heathers (perfect blond long-haired bitches who date all the cool guys), the brains, the brew crew, the partyers, the potheads, the virgins-for-life, the slackers, the hackers, the power lifters, the Independents (that’s where I fit in – got along with everyone), the freaks…. You get the picture.  Why? Because it’s annoying – people try to fit into one mold because you’re adolescent and to have your own identity risks ostracism, the mortal enemy of the 17-year old teenager.  So you go to college, you earn your degree, you enter corporate America…. And you’re right back where you started! Think about it – think about where you work – can you identify the cliques? You don’t risk social ostracism now based on what “clique” you fit into, but you can definitely see the lines, right?  For instance – I work in “Corporate America” and in here are the cliques th...

Can sleeping with someone else save a marriage?

“Jane” and “Ethan” have been together since high school. He had been with other women but he was her first and only sexual experience. They married shortly after high school and have now been married four years.  Things got rocky a few months back, Jane was pretty unhappy with her life and wasn’t sure she wanted to be married to Ethan anymore.  So they took a trial separation.  During this time she had sex with two men.  She now realizes that her husband is definitely the man for her.  She thinks sleeping with these other men made her realize how much she really does love and want to be with her husband. Ethan is hurt and confused and now isn’t sure he can be with her anymore.  He doesn’t understand why it was necessary for her to become intimate with other people for her to realize she really does love him and want to be with him.  Now.  I know in the past, over somewhat similar-ish topics it’s been brought up that the excuse ‘to see what else ...

How to be a Better Friend....

Nowadays it is hard to find "true" friends.... So, why not be a better friend by following the rules listed in the  "LIVE LIKE A HOT CHICK" book... Avoid Jealousy : This all too common green feeling is a waste of precious time and energy. Instead of letting jealousy ruin a friendship, turn it into something positive by acknowledging exactly what your friend has that you want. Allow this extra knowledge about your true desires to inspire you to go out and get it for yourself. Multi-Task : Don’t let your busy work schedule or piles of bills and laundry keep you from hanging out with your gal pals. Make time for them (and for you) by exercising together, catching up during your commute (hands-free, please!), or even grocery shopping together. Celebrate With Her : Life’s too short to miss out on making a big deal out of your friends’ birthdays, engagements, babies, and promotions. When one of your friends has good news, make it a rule to get together with a cake a...

Knowing that 30 is two years away from me there are something that I have begun to take heed to. Things that will keep me in check and on the path that I need to be for a "better me". 5 Ways to Turn Me the HELL OFF!!!!!!!

So we’ve already established that dating in New York City can be hard, right? Despite the throngs of singles prowling the streets at any given moment, it’s the dance we do that makes it hard. Imagine a tango between a clumsy dancer and a smooth mover. Too many steps on your partner’s shoe, perhaps leading when you should follow, having no idea where the beat and timing are…was that quick/quick/slow? Slow/slow/quick? And before you know it, you’ve been thrust to the sidelines after too many errors, in favor of a more compatible dancer. Well, here are five ways men I’ve dated have thrust themselves onto the sidelines without even realizing they were ending the dance. He called me “honey/baby/sweetheart” too soon.  Guys, they’re called “terms of endearment” for a reason. The person using the word is endeared to the person they are referring to. It implies that you know me, how my nose wrinkles when I laugh, that my eyes crinkle when I smile…hell, can you just know how to spell my las...
