1. Go to a library or online a read about the female anatomy, know what the hell is going and know your cycle.
2. Shower as frequently as you need to. Normally that's once or twice a day. Use Dove sensitive skin formula soap, the bar not liquid. Do not use any liquid soap or bubble bath that contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate on your vaginal area. This can cause yeast infections and vaginal imbalance is SOME people. Most liquid soap products and all bubble baths contain this agent. So use with caution. Be mindful that in order to keep your vaginal flora balanced, you can't be flushing it in and out with all kinds of chemicals and what not...that will throw your PH balance off.
3. Bath at least 3 times a week. It softens your skin, cleanses the pores through out your body, soothes your vagina, helps exfoliate dead skin, and relaxes the muscles. Use lightly scented bath salts (Epsom or Dr.Teals bath salts...which can be found at WAL-MART), also, Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps are great. They are all natural castile soaps with no chemical agents, and work wonderfully in baths as a substitute over bubble bath. My favorites: Peppermint, Lavender and Almond. Water should be as hot as you can stand it...sit at least 15-20 before self cleaning. Repeat, use gentle soaps free of deodorants and dyes and heavy perfume.
4. Do not douche. Douching is a temporary fix that will eventually make things worse, because it flushes the 'good' bacteria away along with the 'bad', leaving you with a vagina that yeast will thrive in. The Vagina cleans itself. Drink lots of water to stay well lubricated, take your health supplements and omega 3 oils. And bathe after your period for a few days or so to aid with cleansing your vagina.
5. If you have a problem with yeast; then look into getting some acidophlus supplements by liquid or pill. Also try 'odorless' garlic supplements with that. Sugar and stress can be major culprits with yeast infections. So watch your sugar intake (bread, alcohol, rice, potato's...converts to sugar.). Get proper rest above all to help with stress. Do not use the soaps previously mentioned. Do not douche. Get a diflucan pill and then follow my instructions for maintenance.
6. Wear cotton underwear as much as possible, b/c it allows your vagina to breath. G-strings and thongs can sometimes carry bacteria from the anus to the vagina, thus causing imbalace or Bacteria Vaginosis. So wear those when short periods of time, but not on a daily basis. Wash your undies in detergent that is 'free and clear'.
7. Urinate after sex, and drink cranberry juice afterward to avoid a UT or bladder infection, AZO cranberry works too.
8. Practice safe sex. Enough said.
9. Be very careful with lubricants, oils, lotions and sex creams. These things can cause bacteria over-growth in your vagina resulting in Bacteria Vaginosis which has a whitesh/silver discharge, and smells very rank and fishy.
10. When you work out or if you sweat a lot, make sure you were cotton and you get those damp cloths off asap...a sweaty and hot cooch equals= yeast growth.
11. Don't let someone stick dirty or unwashed fingers in you.
12. Don't stick unsterilized sex toys in you. Don't stick candy and fruit in your vagina. Chocolate and honey is out, too. This all leads to bacteria which leads to yeast and BV.
13. Masturbate...keep the juices flowing, aids in self cleaning.
14. Don't use sprays or powders on your vagina, it is a open mucus membrane which makes you easily susceptible to irritation.
15. Get a pap smear annually. If you suspect something is wrong, see a ob/gyn immediately, preferably a woman.
16. Lubricates vary from person to person. Find a lubricant that works with your body without causing bacteria over-growth aka "BV". Some people can pull off fancier lubricate alternatives and others can not.
17. Sleep with no underwear at night so your vagina airs out and breaths.
18. Drink Pineapple juice for a week or so, it will give you a slightly sweet taste...lemonade makes you a little tart.
19. Vegetarians tend to taste better, because meat by-products, especially red meat gives you a pungent order and akaline taste. Watch the red meats if you want to taste AND smell good.
20. Constipation is equivalent to decomposing food in your stomach. When waste sits inside of you, it releases toxins in your system, gives you bad breath, breaks your skin out and makes you smell foul. Make sure you are relieving yourself 2-3 times a day. Anything less, is a problem. You don't want old food sitting in you, this leads to 'bad' bacteria in your stomach and vagina. And you will stink!
21. Give yourself an enema if necessary, get colon cleanses to get you on track and eat your vegetables and fiber. Go online to research all the wonderful enema's out there. You can get the enema kit at Wal-Greens.
22. Keep the hair in your genitals well groomed and cut down near the lips of the vagina. Hair traps odors and sweat.
23. Wipe front to back, don't allow the dick to go from your anus to your vagina..."BV" all day long.
24. Alternate between pads and tampons, use pads towards the end of period so you can self clean and let things flow.
